My city ain’t your city, but you’re welcome to visit

Newcastle, Australia. Home to some of the finest surfing beaches in the world, wineries, blue-collar workers, and a progressive cafe scene. But what you see below? That’s my Newcastle. The colours and shapes that attract my attention when I zig zag through back-alleys, stroll along rugged coastline, and tread deserted paths past abandoned buildings. These give my city it’s real charm and flavour. It may not be everyone’s representation of Newcastle, but that’s perfectly ok…

  1. Hi Mike, I think we have something in common. Location! Well, almost – I’m down the road at Lake Macquarie and I have to admit, I’ve never seen the places you have in here. I guess we’re looking for different things to photograph and I have to admit, I like what I see here 🙂

    1. Hi there, I’m also in Lake Mac although I prefer to say Newcastle as I feel it encompasses the whole area 😉 A lot of those photos, especially the street art were down well-hidden streets and lane ways, some I had never come across until the day I took these particular photos. I used to think there was nothing left to take photos of in our city, but there *always* is, it’s just a matter of looking 🙂
